As candidates file their official declaration of candidacy in the Greene County Voter Registration Office, GreeneStreets will be updating the list of candidates who will be running in the upcoming May Primary. NOTE: Friday at 12 noon is the deadline to file a declaration of candidacy to get your name on the ballot in the May Primary. However, the incoming storm could have an impact on the deadline, especially if courthouses and voter registration offices are forced to close due to the storm. According to Amanda Lewellyn of the Greene County Voter Registration Office, the state sent a message out today saying, “For local office and party office candidates that are required to file with the clerk, the candidate filing deadline would be moved to noon, the next day your office is open but only if your office is closed on Friday, February 4, 2022.” So if you intend to file at the last minute, contact the Greene County Voter Registration Office in the Greene County Clerk’s Office on the second floor of the Greene County Courthouse by calling 812-384-2015 to talk to Amanda Lewellyn or Lori Dickinson to confirm deadlines in case the office might be closed on Friday.
