Kenneth "Kenny" L. Stantz, Sr.
/Kenneth "Kenny" L. Stantz, Sr., age 83, of Worthington, passed away peacefully at 4:55 PM on Friday, December 19, 2025, at McCormick's Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Spencer.
Born in Linton, Indiana, on November 21, 1942, to Claude and Belva (Pardington) Stantz, Kenny grew up with a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for the outdoors - values that shaped the man he became.
A lifelong logger and woodsman, Kenny owned and operated Stantz Logging and Sawmill. Alongside his son, Kenny Jr., he spent more than five decades cutting timber, running saws, and working the land they loved. The woods was more than just a workplace for Kenny - it was his second home. Whether working on his dozer or walking through the trees, he found peace in the outdoors.
Kenny was also known for his passion for trapping and coon hunting. He enjoyed the simple, quiet moments in nature, and he had a soft spot for all animals. Those who knew him will remember his rough hands, steady humor, and kind heart.
He attended church with his wife at Cornerstone Church in Switz City.
Kenny is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Diana L. (Lester) Stantz; his daughter, Amy Stantz Crane (Frankie Caddell); his step-sons, Jeremiah T. Lester and David K. Wiggins (Misty Williams); daughter-in-law, Lisa Marie Stantz; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and his sister, Sharon Smith (Robert).
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Linda Stantz; his son, Kenneth L. Stantz, Jr.; his brother, Clyde Stantz; and his sister, Anna Mary Stanz.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Christmas Eve, Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Worthington, of Walton Funeral Service, with Pastor Gregg Orman officiating. Burial will follow at Fiscus Cemetery in Coal City.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5-7 PM, and again on Wednesday from 10 AM until the time of service.
