Greene County Emergency Management asks churches for help with warming centers

The cold weather tonight and tomorrow night can be dangerous. There are those that may not have protection from the cold. Greene County Emergency Management Agency is requesting churches in the county to open their facilities the next two nights to meet the need. Any churches that will open for warming centers are requested to contact Greene County Sheriff’s Dispatch at 812-384-4411 and Greene County Emergency Management Agency at 812-384-4127.

Warrant issued for teen accused of stealing a rifle after threatening to kill people

When a father discovered his rifle and a loaded magazine were both missing from his home in Greene County, he called GCSD. He suspected his teen son, who lived in Loogootee, who had recently threatened to kill a family member, a police officer and a nurse. The deputy who investigated the situation reported the suspect’s whereabouts are unknown.
