INDIANAPOLIS (March 30, 2022) – Indiana Secretary of State Holli Sullivan is reminding Hoosiers of two upcoming dates regarding voting: Indiana’s voter registration deadline is April 4th. Registering to vote and checking your status for the 2022 primary can be done online at http://IndianaVoters.com or by visiting your local county election administrator’s office. On April 4th, online registration needs to be completed before midnight and registering in person at your local county election administrator’s office needs to be completed before the end of the business day.

A Republican party caucus will be conducted later this month in Worthington to fill a seat on the Worthington Town Council formerly held by John “Tom” Shelton who recently resigned. The appointment will be to serve for the remainder of Shelton’s term. Any Republican who lives in Ward 3 and is interested in the position needs to file the declaration of candidacy paperwork in the Clerk’s Office on the second floor of the Greene County Courthouse at least 72 hours before the caucus on Sunday, February 27. The official notice as been re-issued to include a correction. Please disregard earlier notice.

A Republican party caucus will be conducted later this month in Worthington to fill a seat on the Worthington Town Council formerly held by John “Tom” Shelton who recently resigned. NOTICE: Due to the impact of this week’s winter storm, the filing deadline has been extended to Monday noon. The deadline was noon today/Friday, but Amanda Lewellyn from the Greene County Voter Registration Office reported the office was closed on Friday due to the storm. This week, the state pre-approved the extension for all offices that were closed Friday.

Election 2022 Update on Feb. 1: Friday noon is the deadline to file, but storm could impact the deadline

As candidates file their official declaration of candidacy in the Greene County Voter Registration Office, GreeneStreets will be updating the list of candidates who will be running in the upcoming May Primary. NOTE: Friday at 12 noon is the deadline to file a declaration of candidacy to get your name on the ballot in the May Primary. However, the incoming storm could have an impact on the deadline, especially if courthouses and voter registration offices are forced to close due to the storm. According to Amanda Lewellyn of the Greene County Voter Registration Office, the state sent a message out today saying, “For local office and party office candidates that are required to file with the clerk, the candidate filing deadline would be moved to noon, the next day your office is open but only if your office is closed on Friday, February 4, 2022.” So if you intend to file at the last minute, contact the Greene County Voter Registration Office in the Greene County Clerk’s Office on the second floor of the Greene County Courthouse by calling 812-384-2015 to talk to Amanda Lewellyn or Lori Dickinson to confirm deadlines in case the office might be closed on Friday.
