Time to get registered to vote in Greene County to beat the deadline on April 4

Time is running out to get registered to vote in the May 3 Primary Election as voter registration ends April 4.

Those needing to get registered can do so by visiting the Greene County Voter Registration Office, located in the Greene County Courthouse Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“They can also visit indianavoters.com to register as well,” said Amanda Lewellyn, a voter registration assistant with the Greene County Voter Registration Office. “On that website, they can check their registration to make sure it’s up to date and apply for absentee ballots as well. If they are updating their ID, they can register at the BMV.”

According to the Indiana Voter Portal, located at indianavoters.com, the following is needed to register to vote:

  • Have a valid Indiana Driver's License or Indiana State Identification Card.

  • Be a citizen of the United States.

  • Be at least 18 years old on or before the next general, municipal or special election. (A 17-year-old may register and vote in the primary election if the voter turns 18 on or before the next general or municipal election.)

  • Have lived in your precinct for at least 30 days before the next general, municipal, or special election.

  • Not currently imprisoned after being convicted of a crime.

Early voting in Greene County begins on April 5 and runs until April 30. Dates and times of early voting are as follows:

  • April 5 through April 29 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Voter Registration Office at the Courthouse

  • April 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Center Township Fire Department and the Voter Registration Office at the Courthouse

  • April 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Roy Clark Building in Linton and the Voter Registration Office at the Courthouse.

  • May 2 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Voter Registration Office at the Courthouse
