A Worthington woman is facing multiple drug charges including four felonies and a couple of misdemeanors following her arrest Monday afternoon by WPD officers with assistance from WPD K9 Jack.
Sosha Nicole Christmas
Sosha Nicole Christmas, 28, Worthington, was arrested by Deputy Marshal Heather Wood of the Worthington Police Department yesterday afternoon, Monday, January 24.
Christmas was the driver of a 2003 Saturn passenger car that was southbound on Myra Street in Worthington on Monday. The brake light was out on the car and Officer Wood initiated a traffic stop around 2:30 p.m.
When the car came to a stop at the intersection of Myra Street and Terre Haute Road, Christmas put her hands out the driver’s side window then reached back inside, got her keys and threw the keys on the top of the vehicle.
When Officer Wood informed Christmas about the reason for the stop, Christmas seemed nervous, lit a cigarette and was rummaging through items in the car. When asked if there was anything illegal in the car, Christmas said no and gave consent for officers to search the vehicle.
Christmas was then asked to step outside the car, along with a male passenger who had been upset and was yelling while Officer Wood was trying to talk to Christmas, then kept yelling when asked to get out of the car.
WPD Chief Jim O’Malley was also present to assist on the scene, along with WPD Reserve Officer D. Sparks, when Officer Wood deployed her K9 partner Jack, who gave a positive alert on the car indicating the presence of illegal substances. At that point, Christmas allegedly told Chief O’Malley that there could be some meth and a syringe in the glove box. She also said anything inside the car belonged to her and not to her passenger.
Officer Wood reported that during the search, she located a syringe and a plastic bag with a crystal substance and a cigarette box containing a plastic bag that also contained a crystal substance.
Then while Chief O’Malley was talking to Christmas, she allegedly handed him a plastic container containing small baggies with a crystal substance, a smoking device with white residue and a metal spoon with a crystal substance.
During a pat-down, three pills were found in the front pocket of her sweatshirt – she allegedly said she forgot they were there. A search for her patient prescription history did not return any results for prescriptions and she allegedly said she recently found the pills in a home she was cleaning.
A sample of the crystal substance field-tested positive as methamphetamine and the other items are being sent to the lab for analysis – results pending.
The passenger was released from the scene and the car was pulled into the driveway of a family member which was close by.
Christmas was arrested and booked into the Greene County Jail at 4:01 p.m. She is being held without bond pending court appearance. The date of her initial hearing is not yet known.
Christmas is facing charges of:
Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony,
Unlawful possession of syringe, a Level 6 felony,
Possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor,
Possession of a controlled substance, a Class A misdemeanor,
Unlawful possession or use of a legend drug, a Level 6 felony, and
Unlawful possession or use of a legend drug, a Level 6 felony.
