A Tulsa man in Greene County to visit a friend got stopped late Monday and wound up in the Greene County Jail. He’s accused of cocaine possession.
Dayvon Shavoia Lang
Dayvon Shavoia Lang, 23, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, was arrested by Sgt. Bobby Pierce of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department during a traffic stop late Monday, March 9. Lang was booked into the Greene County Jail around 2:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 10.
Sgt. Pierce initiated the traffic stop in the area of State Road 54 and the parking lot of Orcheln Farm Store in Linton on a blue 2018 Hyundai Elantra with an Oklahoma plate for failing to use a turn signal.
Lang was the driver. Two other individuals, a man and a woman, were passengers.
Other officers arrived to assist on the scene, including Deputy Alan Jackson, Deputy Camron Frye and Linton Police Officer Joe Riley and his K9 partner Kona.
When K9 Kona performed a free air sniff around the vehicle, Kona alerted to the presence of controlled substances.
A search was conducted and officers reported finding paraphernalia in the trunk with a white residue that field tested positive as cocaine and a small ziplock bag under the hood near a fender that contained a white substance.
All three individuals in the vehicle were transported to the sheriff’s department for interviews.
According to Sgt. Pierce, the male passenger said Lang was a friend he had met in California. Lang had been in Evansville then came up to visit him. The female said she had just met Lang and agreed he had just stopped in to visit. Both said Lang picked them up in Switz City and they were all headed to Linton for food when they were pulled over.
The two passengers were released but Lang was arrested.
Lang is facing preliminary charges of possession of a narcotic drug, a Level 6 felony, and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor. He was being held without bond pending court appearance.
