Read MoreUPDATE: The suspect in an assault with a baseball bat last summer, that left a Greene County man with serious injuries, is in custody. A warrant was issued a year ago for the arrest of Russell J. Lyttaker, now 41, but he fled the area and the state. Lyttaker then wound up in jail in Missouri and the Greene County Sheriff’s Department picked him up yesterday, Wednesday, June 30, and transported him back to Greene County to face charges of aggravated battery – assault posed a substantial risk of death, a Level 3 felony, and battery resulting in serious bodily injury, a Level 5 felony. Lyttaker was booked into the Greene County Jail at 6:01 p.m. He is currently being held without bond. GCSD Det. David Elmore was the arresting officer……. EARLIER STORY A YEAR AGO: A warrant is out for the arrest of a 40-year-old male suspect from Denver accused of an assault with a baseball bat that left a Greene County man seriously injured with skull fractures, a brain bleed, a ruptured spleen, broken wrist and loss of hearing.

Garrell Joseph "Joe" Hash, 78, passed away suddenly in the early hours of Sunday, July 12, 2026, at his home in Linton, the town where he was born and felt most at home. Born on September 7, 1947, in Linton, Indiana, he was the son of Garrell A. and Betty Jo (Bentley) Hash.
Bradley Robert Grounds, 37, of Linton, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at his residence. Born March 1, 1989 in Bloomington, Indiana, he was the son of David Robert and Lisa L’Rae (Winger) Grounds.
Gloria Jean Davenport (Sis), 73, passed away peacefully at 12:40 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Serenity Springs in Jasonville, Indiana, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Linton, Indiana, on May 27, 1953, Gloria was the daughter of Raymond Hancock and Bertha (Graves) French. She graduated from Linton-Stockton High School with the Class of 1971.
Lois Ann Heaton Kirchoff, 88, of Terre Haute formerly of Bloomfield, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at Wyndmoor Assisted Living in Terre Haute, IN. She passed away after battling Pompe disease for several decades.
Dollie Lucille Bartlett, 96, of Bloomfield and formerly of Bloomington, passed peacefully on July 6, 2026 at Richland Bean Blossom Healthcare in Bloomington.
Gary R. Keene, 83, of Linton, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2026, with family by his side, at his son’s home in Linton. He was born on June 13, 1943, in Sullivan, Indiana to Ray Glen and Anna Lucille (McClellan) Keene. Gary married the love of his life, Roberta K. (Miller) Keene on October 17, 1970.
Nila Gayle (Hamlin) Talbot, 98, of Washington, IN passed away at 1:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at Prairie Village in Washington, IN.
Randall Dale Bingham, 89, of Linton, passed away peacefully on the evening of July 4, 2026, at Glenburn Home, leaving behind a life marked by quiet strength, steady devotion, and deep love for his family. Born March 14, 1937, in Tulip, Indiana, Dale was the son of Bennie and Pansy Birchie (Mishler) Bingham, and he carried the values of hard work and humility with him throughout his life.
Robert “Bob” Blaker, 88, of Linton, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at his residence. He was born in Pontiac, Michigan on July 20, 1937, the son of Robert and Ilene (Taylor) Blaker. He had two sisters, Judy and Rosalie, and he was the middle child.
Charles D. ‘Chuck’ Moss II, of Linton, Indiana, passed from this life with his family by his side, on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on February 27, 1955, in Sullivan, Indiana to Charles D. ‘Dow’ and Marcelene L. (Debaun) Moss. Chuck married his loving wife, Debbie Jo (Wilkerson) Moss on November 3, 1978.
