Sheriff's department hiring jail officers

The application process for Jail Officers at the Greene County Sheriff’s Department will be opening next week as part of a hiring process hosted by the department. 

According to a release from the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, applications can be picked up at the sheriff’s department or accessed online at https://www.co.greene.in.us/egov/documents/1673297313_22739.pdf. They will be accepted Aug. 14 through Aug. 25. Applications must be received by 4 p.m. on Aug. 25. 

The hiring process will consist of interviews, testing, and background checks. A high school diploma or GED is required. Also required is a valid Indiana driver’s license and a demonstrated safe driving record. A clean crminial history is a must. 

The starting pay rate for the position of jail officer is $21.07 per hour with advancement opportunities available. Those opportunities include but are not limited to: officer in charge, field training officer, corporal, special deputy, and transport officer.
