Rural Bloomfield woman arrested for meth possession

A rural Bloomfield woman was taken into custody for meth possession and other charges after she allegedly swallowed pills and attempted to dispose of evidence before deputies executed a search warrant at her home.

Tamara Jean Hollers

Tamara Jean Hollers, 56, Bloomfield, was arrested by Deputy Jordan Allor of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department late last Saturday night.

Hollers was booked in to the Greene County Jail before 1 a.m. Sunday, March 1, and initially held without bond pending court appearance.

The arrest of Hollers came about after Tobe Hollers-Richardson, 25, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine during a traffic stop conducted after he exited the driveway on Crowe Road at the residence of both Hollers and Hollers-Richardson.

When Deputy Allor and Deputy David Elmore spoke to Hollers after Hollers-Richardson’s vehicle was towed, Hollers allegedly agreed to a warrantless search of the residence. After the deputies found a glass smoking device with a residue that tested positive for methamphetamine and a couple of baggie corners with white residue plus a cache of handguns, rifles and shotguns, they stopped the warrantless search, detained Hollers, and requested a search warrant.

Deputy Allor said while they were waiting for the search warrant to be issued, Hollers managed to swallow multiple pills of different colors that had been in her pocket. He also said there were several dogs in her bedroom and when they asked her to move the dogs into the bathroom, she managed to grab some items from the bedroom, along with the dogs, went into the bathroom with the dogs and refused to come out. Deputies did pull her from the bathroom and she was then placed under arrest and transported to jail.

Deputy Allor reported a long list of items that were found during the search including smoking devices, baggies with residue, straws with residue, a spoon with cotton and residue, syringe, digital scales, green plant material, and several types of prescription medication including some that were controlled substances labeled with the names of other individuals.

They also found 46 $100 bills and nine $50 bills.

The firearms included a single shot 16-gauge shotgun, three .22 caliber rifles, two 12-gauge shotguns, a 30-30 rifle, a double-barrel 12-gauge shotgun, a 9 mm handgun, a .45 revolver, a .44 revolver, and a semi-auto .22 caliber Phoenix Arms firearm that had been reported as stolen out of Monroe County.

When Hollers appeared in Greene Superior Court early this afternoon, Wednesday, March 4, she was charged with:

  • Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony,

  • Unlawful possession of syringe, a Level 6 felony,

  • Maintaining a common nuisance – controlled substances, a Level 6 felony,

  • Obstruction of justice, a Level 6 felony,

  • Refusal to aid an officer, a Class B misdemeanor, and

  • Possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.

Her bond was set at $17,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed.
