Man staying in abandoned trailer arrested for trespassing

A man accused of violating a protective order was arrested when police found him staying in an abandoned trailer.

Christopher Ryan Andis

Christopher Ryan Andis, 23, Jasonville, was arrested by Officer Cayden Walker of the Linton Police Department early Saturday, September 3.

Around 2:00 AM last Saturday, Officer Walker was handling a juvenile complaint when he learned a juvenile had witnessed Christopher Andis batter his (Andis) girlfriend in a bathroom at the park. The witness said Andis pushed the girlfriend against the bathroom wall.

Looking for Andis, Officer Walker knew he formerly lived at a location in Mobile Manor due to a previous domestic case he had worked at a residence there. He also knew the LPD had an extra patrol for that residence due to someone breaking in to that trailer which was abandoned. LPD Officer Davis Aerni had talked with the owners who said the trailer was empty and was going to be condemned due to being in poor condition and nobody was to be inside the trailer. But Officer Walker had been dispatched to the trailer multiple times to search it because someone had been reported to be inside the trailer and the back door had been left standing open. The day before the incident in the park, Officer Aerni noticed items were being moved around inside the trailer.

When Officer Walker and Lieutenant Bobby Pierce went to the trailer in Mobile Manor to see if Andis was inside, he jumped out the back door and started to run away. He was advised to stop and lay down on his stomach. He complied and was placed in handcuffs.

Regarding the incident in the bathroom at the park, he allegedly said all he did was talk to the girlfriend and he admitted he knew there was a protective order in place but he thought she wanted it dropped. When asked why he was in the trailer, he allegedly said he was homeless and had nowhere else to go. He said he goes in through the back door at night for a place to stay.

Later on in the conversation, Andis allegedly admitted he had pushed the girlfriend but it was in self-defense.

When the officers were able to talk to the girlfriend, she allegedly said she did not push Andis and nothing physical had occurred. She said he was just attempting to talk to her.

Andis was booked into the Greene County Jail at 3:28 AM. He was being held without bond.

A criminal case has been filed against Andis in Greene Superior Court on charges of:

  • Invasion of privacy in violation of a protective order, a Class A misdemeanor, and

  • Criminal trespassing, a Class A misdemeanor.
