Lyons woman upset over an affair arrested for battery in Linton
/A Lyons woman, who was upset that another woman had an affair with her significant other, intended to physically confront the other woman in a Linton bar. But friends of the other woman helped her get away from the situation. The woman is accused of battery on the friends.
Suzanne Gambill, 52, Lyons, was arrested early Sunday, November 7, after Officer Alan Jackson and Officer Cayden Walker, both of the Linton Police Department, were dispatched to an altercation in Linton. Gambill was booked into the Greene County Jail at 1:33 a.m.
Around 12:43 a.m., the two officers responded to the American Legion on South Main Street in Linton on the report of a battery. When they arrived, Officer Walker escorted Suzanne Gambill out of the bar while Officer Jackson, the investigating officer, talked to a couple who were the alleged victims of the battery.
They explained a female friend, who had been at the Legion earlier, was accused by Gambill of “cheating” with Gambill’s significant other. They learned Gambill was going to confront the friend, so the couple walked her out of the Legion to her vehicle that was parked in the lot behind the Legion.
As their friend was getting into her vehicle, Gambill allegedly came outside and asked the woman if she was going to take her friend’s “ass beating” for her. Gambill is accused of pushing the woman to the ground causing the woman to scrape her hands on the ground.
Before the friend could leave, Gambill allegedly tried to open a door on the vehicle, but it was locked. The friend then drove away. When the woman got up off the ground, Gambill allegedly came at her and the man tried to get in between the two women. Gambill allegedly then pushed the man.
When the couple was walking to go back inside the Legion, Gambill allegedly came up from behind the woman and pushed her again.
When Officer Jackson talked to Gambill, she allegedly admitted she went outside to confront the friend about an affair with Gambill’s significant other. According to Gambill, the woman called her a name and pushed her first. She admitted trying to get into the friend’s vehicle but denied pushing the man.
Gambill was arrested and transported to jail where her bond was set at $1,500 surety with ten percent cash allowed. She posted $150 and was released later the same day.
Gambill’s initial hearing is set for 8:30 a.m. tomorrow morning, Thursday, November 18, when she will be formally charged with two counts of battery. Both are Class B misdemeanors.
