Karry Edward Flick, 54, Lyons, was arrested by Deputy Zachary Goad of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department early last Saturday, March 13.

Around 1 a.m. last Saturday, a 911 caller said they thought a vehicle ran off County Road 750 West. The caller said he could see headlights and it sounded like someone was trying to get the vehicle back on the road.

Deputy Zachary Goad and Deputy Devan Goad were dispatched and when they arrived in the area, they found a red 1999 Dodge Dakota off the east side of CR 750 West, south of CR 60 North. It was in a wooded area and was unoccupied.

When the deputies started walking in the wooded area, they found the driver, later identified as Karry Flick, laying on the ground about 40 yards from the vehicle. He was unconscious but breathing without any visible sign of injury. Deputy Zachary Goad said he could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Flick. EMS was called. After rescue personnel arrived, Flick woke up.

Flick seemed confused about the situation but told EMS he was not injured. Deputy Zachary Goad said Flick showed signs of intoxication including poor balance and slurred speech. He struggled to walk out of the woods and get back to the road.

Flick was cleared by medical personnel then transported to the sheriff’s department. On the way, Flick allegedly said he’d had three or four beers and was on his way home from the Moose in Linton. He admitted he’d lost control of his vehicle.

Once at the sheriff’s department, Flick failed field sobriety testing and refused to take a breath test. Deputy Zachary Goad secured a search warrant and a blood draw was taken – results pending.

Flick was booked into the Greene County Jail at 4:44 a.m. Bond was set at $4,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He posted $400 and was released later that day.

Flick’s initial hearing is set for April 1 when he will be formally charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor.
