Jasonville man wanted on warrant arrested in Bloomfield area

When deputies arrived to serve an arrest warrant on a man staying in a small camper in the Bloomfield area, he first refused to leave the camper then put up a bit of a fight and now he's facing still more felony and misdemeanor charges.

CHAD MICHAEL PANTE

Chad Michael Pante, 44, Jasonville, was arrested by Detective Shawn Cullison of the Greene County Sheriff's Department on Wednesday, July 20.

Pante had a warrant out for his arrest on a petition to revoke bond in a pending case involving felony resisting law enforcement with a vehicle and possession of cocaine or narcotic drug and misdemeanor intimidation, driving while suspended with a prior and refusal to aid an officer.

When GCSD Deputy Harvey Holt became aware that Pante was staying in a camper on McCutchan Lane in the Bloomfield area, Deputy Holt, Detective Cullison and Deputy Terry Wade met there to serve the warrant on July 20.

When they arrived, they found a small camper sitting beside a driveway with the rear door open so Deputy Wade could see inside and see someone moving inside the camper. Deputy Holt opened another door and ordered Pante, who was standing next to a bed by that door, out of the camper, but Pante refused to exit and said he needed to put his pants on. While he was doing that, he allegedly reached onto the bed and placed a small brownish colored bottle into his pants. At that point Detective Cullison entered the camper and told Pante to stop reaching for things. Detective Cullison reported he also saw several syringes and a small plastic zip bag on the bed next to Pante along with a knife which was secured.

Pante continued to refuse to exit the camper so he was forced out. Once outside, he resisted being handcuffed but after a bit of a struggle, cuffs were secured.

Pante asked for his phone, his wallet and his keys which were on the bed of the camper. Detective Cullison found those items for him and noticed the plastic zip bag had a white powder residue in it.

Due to Pante’s behavior on the scene, one deputy attempted to put leg shackles on Pante for safety but Pante did not cooperate and kicked his legs and kept kicking. He allegedly, kicked Detective Cullison in the right knee and on his right hand. Pante also allegedly was squeezing Deputy Holt’s forearm.

All of the items that Pante requested where retrieved for him but Detective Cullison also secured a small multi-colored bag which contained several syringes, several more syringes that were lying loosely on the bed along with the zip bag. The brownish bottle that Pante put in his pants earlier was a prescription bottle with the label removed that contained several clear bags inside.

Pante complained that his shoulder had been taken out of place so Deputy Holt transported Pante to Greene County General Hospital to be checked out. After he was medically cleared, he was transported to the Greene County Jail where he was booked in at 5:45 PM.

Detective Cullison reported that of the items confiscated, they found marijuana and a white crystal substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine along with pills identified as oxycodone, a controlled substance. Pante did not have a prescription for oxycodone.

In the pending case against Pante with the warrant issued, Pante’s bond has been revoked so he is being held in jail without bond.

As a result of what was found and transpired during the arrest, a new criminal case has been filed against Pante and he has been charged with:

  • Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony,

  • Unlawful possession of syringe, a Level 6 felony,

  • Possession of a controlled substance, a Class A misdemeanor,

  • Battery against a public safety official, a Level 6 felony, and

  • Resisting law enforcement, knowingly or intentionally forcibly resisting, a Class A misdemeanor.
