ISP Bloomington A.C.E.S. yearly recap reveals impressive effort to fight drug and other crimes
/Bloomington, Ind. - With the new year in full swing, the Indiana State Police Bloomington District A.C.E.S (Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Section) reviewed their efforts in 2021. The team which was started at the end of 2016 by Sgt. Greg Day patrols all seven counties (including Greene County) in the district and consists of Senior Trooper Allen Deel, Senior Trooper Richard Klun and K9 Loki, Trooper Caleb Garvin, Trooper Chance Humphrey, Trooper Ian Portteus and K9 Zeus and Trooper Matt Hatchett and K9 Axe.
2021 Stats:
Criminal Defendants Arrested: 387
Total Criminal Charges: 1,030
Total Felony Criminal Charges: 468
Heroin/Fentanyl Seized: 641 grams (almost 1 ½ pound)
Methamphetamine Seized: 3,667 grams (over 8 pounds)
Cocaine Seized: 3 grams
Marijuana Seized: 8,579 grams (over 19 pounds)
Stolen Vehicles Recovered: 4
Police Services: 1,550
Traffic Contacts: 2,818
OWI Arrests: 26
Crashes Investigated: 70
"The work done by our A.C.E.S. team is a testament to what can happen when Troopers work together by focusing on what is going on in the communities that they serve," said Lt. Paul Bucher, Commander of the Bloomington District. Bucher further stated, “Over the last five years, a lot has happened in the world but our A.C.E.S. teams work ethic didn’t stop, and I’d be remiss if we didn’t capture the whole story of their work.”

In addition, the A.C.E.S. have completed 168 public appearances/educational programs and made over 200 visits to rural schools.
Sgt. Day commended his team members and the work they have accomplished. "I could not be prouder of the quality of work that the A.C.E.S. team produced last year, and more importantly the work over the last five years. These troopers are a great asset to the district and the communities for which they live, serve and care so much about. When you can remove that much heroin, fentanyl, and methamphetamine from the streets of small-town America, lives get saved and the citizens are safer because of it.”
