Adam Eugene Bennett, 30, Bloomfield, was arrested by Deputy Robert Just of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department last Saturday, October 9, as a result of an investigation by GCSD Deputy Devan Goad.

Around 3:30 a.m. last Saturday, Deputy Just initiated a traffic stop on a white 2018 Nissan Pathfinder that was speeding on State Road 157 north of Bloomfield near Tulip Road.

Adam Bennett was the driver who said he had just left the bar in Worthington and was on his way home. Deputy Just reported he could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Bennett and he showed other signs of impairment including slurred speech and red, watery eyes.

When Deputy Goad and Deputy Camron Frye arrived on the scene to assist, Bennett was asked to perform standard field sobriety tests which he allegedly failed but he agreed to take a chemical test and was transported to the Linton Police Department. LPD Officer Zachary Goad administered the certified chemical breath test and reported Bennett tested at .101. The legal limit is .08.

Bennett was transported to the Greene County Jail where he was booked in at 5:56 a.m. with bond set at $4,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. As of late Tuesday, he had not yet posted bond.

Bennett is facing charges of:

  • Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor

  • Operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor, and

  • Operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent to at least .08 but less than .15, a Class C misdemeanor.
