Sean kyle Bays

On Feb. 7, Deputy Zachary Goad of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call from a co-worker stating that while speaking with Sean Kyle Bays on Feb. 5, he threatened to kill a fellow co-worker. The caller told Goad that Bays was upset another employee was getting additional work and he wasn’t. The caller told Goad he was going to reach out to the company’s human resources department and make them aware of Bays’ threat. On Feb. 7, according to the caller, Bays’ employment with the company was terminated.

The caller, according to the probable cause affidavit, said Bays had not made any threatening statement to the aforementioned employee but had been sending threatening messages to him. Bays reportedly told the caller he would be at his house that night and they could handle the issue man to man. The caller told Goad he was concerned Bays would come to his residence. Goad explained the process of obtaining a protective order and told the caller to contact law enforcement if Bays showed up at his residence.

At approximately 1:20 p.m. on Feb. 7, Goad received a call from the aforementioned male stating Bays was still contacting him via text message. Goad provided his email and asked he send the messages to him. Upon receiving the screenshots of Goad noted they were sent between 4:19 a.m. and 1:24 p.m.

At approximately 7:55 a.m., Greene County Dispatch received a call from an employee of Bays’ former place of work stating  Bays called the company stating he was waiting on an employee. The employee was identified as the one to whom he had been sending threatening messages to. Greene County Sheriff George Dallaire, Deputy Harvey Holt, and Goad responded to the call. Holt located Bays’ truck at his apartment; however, none of the officers were able to locate him.

Goad spoke with the company’s plant manager and advised him of a trespass notification form, which he chose to file. By filing the form, it states the plant manager does not want Bays on the property. Goad also spoke with the male complainant who also filed a no trespass form stating he does not want Bays on his property.

When speaking with the complainant, he informed Goad that Bays had continued to send threatening messages.

Goad went to Bays residence to speak with him. After knocking several times with no answer, Goad called his cell phone number, which was the number the threatening messages had been coming from. Goad, according to the probable cause affidavit, introduced himself and asked Bays if he was home. Bays reportedly hung up. Bays called Goad back a short time later but said if it was to talk about the company he previously worked for, he wasn’t talking. Goad informed Bays of the no trespass forms and let him know he was not allowed to be on either property.

Bays, according to the probable cause affidavit, continued with the threatening statements towards the caller going as far to say he had two other people who wanted to kill him.

A short time later, Bays called Goad back but said he believed he dialed the wrong number and hung up. A little while later, he called back again and reportedly said he wasn’t sure what was going on with the male complainant but he doesn’t want him contacting him anymore. Goad, according to the probable cause, said he did not believe the complainant had plans of contacting him. Bays said he thought the complainant was scared of him because he thinks he was going to kill him, but Bays advised Goad he isn’t going to kill him.

Bays was arrested on Feb 8 with bond set at $4,000 surety with 10 percent allowed. He was released later the same day after posting $400. Following his release from jail, Bays was again arrested on Feb. 10. His bond from his Feb. 8 arrest has been revoked and he's now being held in Greene County Jail without bond.

In regards to the Feb. 8 arrest, he is being charged with intimidation, threat to commit a forcible felony, a Level 6 Felony.
