James Edward Lindsey

James Edward Lindsey, 86, of Solsberry, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his family and friends. Born August 28, 1936 in Solsberry, he was the son of Beryl Forest and Pansy Belle (Todd) Lindsey.

Jim was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather. He was self-employed as a carpenter and a farmer. He was a member of the Solsberry Christian Church where he served as a Deacon. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Solsberry Post #450 and a member of the Carpenter’s Union. Jim coached Little League, Babe Ruth and Greene County All-Star baseball. He was a Solsberry Hornet where he played basketball and baseball. He played Minor League baseball for the Oklahoma Oilers.

Surviving relatives include: his wife, Erlene Lindsey whom he married December 18, 1954; his children, Mike (Raedawn) Lindsey, Dan Lindsey, Debbie Whyte, Becky Lindsey, DeLynn Reed and Darlene Dye; his grandchildren, Heather Lindsey (Dave Schantz), Heidi Norris, Zac Lindsey, Dustin Maze Dave Reed, Gary Reed (Jamie Merriman), Bryce Lindsey (Lydia), Michael Whyte, Andrew Whyte, Wesley Dye (Lindsey), Jessica Deckard (Jon) and Megan Herald; great-grandchildren, Steven Bond, Austin Bond, Jaden Norris, Karsen Norris, Dreysen Norris, Griffen Norris, Olivia Lindsey, Madison Lindsey, Marlee Maze, Jaimeson Reed, Mason Reed, Ella Reed, Ollie Reed, Charley Deckard, Spencer Deckard, Elijah Dye and Amelia Dye.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father-in-law, Earl and Louise (Crowe) Dye, brother-in-law, Richard Dye and a son-in-law, Jeff Reed.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at the Solsberry Christian Church. Interment will follow in Solsberry Cemetery.

Public visitation will be held from 4 to 8 pm on Saturday and one hour prior to services on Sunday at the Solsberry Christian Church.

The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to Solsberry Christian Church, Solsberry Cemetery, The Parkinson’s Foundation or the charity of the donor’s choice in Jim’s name.
