Arnold Graves

Arnold  Graves, age 80, of Bloomfield, went home to be with the Lord at 8:33 pm on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, doing what he loved, feeding the cattle. He was born in Bloomfield on December 26, 1940, the son of  Harold S. & Grace E. (Love) Graves.

He was a 1958 graduate of Switz City High School and a 1963 graduate of Butler University where he received his Bachelor Degree in Physical Education. He taught Math and coached many basketball and track teams at Edinburgh High School, Center Grove High School, Greenwood High School and Eastern Greene High School. He was also a farmer in Greene County for 42 years. He was inducted into the Butler Hall of Fame in 2016 where the 1961 Men's Track & Field team was honored as the Collegiate Conference Champions. He enjoyed participating in the Indiana State Games and National Senior Games competing in Track & Field.  He was a member of Linton First Baptist Church, The Gideons International and served on the Farm Service Agency board.

Arnold is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Marcia (Smith) Graves of Bloomfield; daughter, Rebecca (Brian) Cunningham of Monroe City; grandson, Caleb Cunningham; granddaughter, Abigail Cunningham; brothers, Stanley (Diane) Graves and Gary (Loretta) Graves; sister, Darlene (Steve) Holtsclaw; aunt, Ruth Graves as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service will be webcast live and held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, with Pastor David Tyra and Pastor Jay Collins. Burial will follow at Prairie Chapel Cemetery in Lyons.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm, and on Wednesday from 12:00 Noon until the time of service.

Due to State Mandate, only 50 (fifty) people are allowed in the funeral home at one time, and face mask must be worn.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Gideons International through the funeral home.
