Time to pay property taxes is winding down as the spring installment is due on Friday, May 10. 

A 22-year-old Worthington man appeared in Greene Superior Court May 2 on a felony charge of rape following a April 29 incident in Worthington.

Those wishing to cast their vote prior to Tuesday’s Primary Election will have an opportunity to do so Saturday in Linton and Bloomfield. 

A 40-year-old Bloomfield woman found herself behind bars May 1 after she was arrested for allegedly taking items from a Bloomfield gas station without rendering payment.

An early morning May 3 semi accident on Interstate 69 resulted in one fatality.  

A 28-year-old Linton woman was arrested April 22 on a warrant for theft after she allegedly stole two backpacks—with Chromebooks inside—and tossed them into a roadside ditch in Terre Haute.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Department reported Friday morning the death of an inmate on April 18 due to an unknown medical event.

A 47-year-old man who escaped April 5 from the Greene County Community Correction Facility was arrested April 14 and is currently in the Greene County Jail. 

A 52-year-old Linton man was arrested April 9 after leaving the scene of an accident while driving with more than three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

A 57-year-old Worthington man is set to appear in Greene County Superior Court April 25 after he allegedly knocked over a lit candle and pulled a blanket over it, causing a two-story commercial building in Worthington to catch fire on March 29. 

Eastern Heights Utilities will begin hydrant flushing in the towns of Bloomfield and Worthington on April 15th. Hydrant flushing in the rural areas will be done in the following weeks. Customers may experience low water pressure or discolored water during this time.

The Linton Water Department will begin flushing hydrants on Sunday, April 14. According to Ross Gentry from the City of Linton Gas and Water Department, the flushing is expected to take four nights for completion. The flushing will begin each night at 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following morning. All flushing activities should be completed at 6 a.m. on Thursday, April 18. Due to the process, city officials are recommending the washing of clothes be kept to a minimum during flushing periods as discolored water has been known to cause stains on white and light-colored clothes. A 37-year-old Jasonville man was arrested for theft April 5 after failing to return rental equipment with an estimated value of approximately $55,000 or more after falling behind on payments. 

Greene County property owners should keep an eye on the mailbox as property tax statements were mailed on April 9 with the spring installment due on May 10.
