UPDATE with ARRESTS: The parents of a child found wandering in Worthington earlier this month were arrested and booked into the Greene County Jail yesterday, July 27. Samantha Renee Boicourt, 34, Indianapolis, Indiana, was arrested on a warrant issued on a charge of felony neglect of a dependent. Her bond was set at $4000 surety with 10% cash allowed. She posted $400 and was released later the same day. KC Lee Bratcher, 34, Indianapolis, Indiana, was arrested on a warrant issued on a charge of felony neglect of a dependent. His bond was set at $4000 surety with 10% cash allowed. He posted $400 and was released later the same day. Both will be scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court for initial hearings.

Wanted: Parents of child found wandering in Worthington

Warrants have been issued for two Indianapolis residents on felony charges of neglect of a dependent after their toddler was found wandering in a backyard in Worthington. 

On June 7, Officer Heather Wood of the Worthington Police Department was contacted by a resident who reported a toddler wandering in the backyard of his Cherry Street home in Worthington. 

Before arriving at the residence, Wood was approached by KC Bratcher and Samantha Boicourt who said they were looking for their child and asked if she had found him. At that time, the resident who reported the child in his backyard brought the child to the parents. 

Bratcher told Wood he and Boicourt were living in a camper at Boicourt’s father’s on Myra Street near the Worthington Town Park. He left the camper to use the restroom as the camper doesn’t have one and wasn’t aware the child followed him. He said Boicourt was outside in a vehicle working on a radio during this time. Boicourt told Wood she thought the child went with Bratcher.  

Neither Bratcher nor Boicourt knew how long the child was gone before they began looking for him. In the probable cause affidavit, Wood noted Cherry Street, where the child was located, is an approximate eight-minute walk from the Worthington Town Park. 

The caller who found the child said he was in his backyard crying. The child was also near a neighbor’s pool which does not have a fence around it. He said he had the child for approximately 10 minutes before Boicourt and Bratcher arrived. 

Warrants were issued for the arrest of Bratcher and Boicourt on July 1. Both have been charged with Neglect of a Dependent, a Level 6 Felony.
