Wanted man in custody

After getting a deal then asking for a delay before he had to turn himself in to serve time last month, a man convicted of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon in an incident of gunfire in Linton last year, didn’t show up as promised. A warrant was issued but his whereabouts were unknown. Now’s he behind bars serving his time.

Bradon M. Graham, 19, was arrested early last Friday by Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy Bobby Pierce. Graham was booked into the Greene County Jail around 2 a.m.

Detective James O’Malley of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department was the lead investigator into the shooting incident that occurred on May 24, 2018. More recently he’s been investigating Graham’s failure to report to the jail.

At the time of the incident of gunfire, Graham was listed with a home address in Linton. At the time of his conviction and sentencing, court records showed him with a post office box in Dugger as his address. Now, court records show him with a home address in Hymera.

During a hearing in Greene Circuit Court on April 10, Graham admitted guilt and was convicted of criminal recklessness, a Level 6 felony. He was sentenced to two years in the Greene County Jail with all but 300 days suspended. The court specified that he would serve the first 90 days in jail with the rest to be served on work release as long as he was eligible.

O’Malley said at Graham’s request, the court agreed to delay the start of Graham’s going into jail to serve his time until 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16. Graham was ordered to turn himself in at the jail no later than that time on that date.

He didn’t show up, so a new criminal case was filed against Graham and a warrant for his arrest was issued the same day on a preliminary charge of escape – knowingly or intentionally violates a home detention order, a Level 6 felony.

Now that he’s in jail, he’ll be back in court to appear at an initial hearing on the charge of escape, and the deal he got in the gunfire case may be in jeopardy – a petition to revoke his suspended sentence has been filed.
