Updated: Accident at Scheid sends four people to hospitals

Three pedestrians and the driver of a Jeep were transported to area hospitals, deemed to be in critical condition, after an accident Friday night at Scheid Diesel Extravaganza at Wagler Motorsports in Lyons. 

According to a news release from the Greene County Sheriff’s Department (GCSD), at approximately 7:15 p.m., a Jeep being used as a pit vehicle was driven out of the staging area and into the crowd striking three pedestrians, a side by side, a track rake, and another vehicle before rolling on its side. 

The three pedestrians—identified as Marlin Zimmerman, 31, of Pennsylvania, Jared Weaver, 33, of Ohio, and Joey Rank, 30, of Tennessee— and driver of the Jeep, Jolanda Hargett, 55 of Tennessee, were transported to hospitals in critical condition. They are recovering from nonlife-threatening injuries.

The accident is being investigated by the GCSD. They were assisted at the scene by Switz City Fire Department, Greene County Ambulance Service, Air Evac, and Wagler Motorsports.
