Traffic stop in Jasonville leads to arrest for methamphetamine
/Failure to signal a turn on Wednesday in Jasonville resulted in a traffic stop which led to a sniff around a Mustang by K9 Blitz which led to an arrest for methamphetamine possession.
James Edward Dorman, 56, of Carmel, Ind., was arrested by Officer Jake Gambill of the Jasonville Police Department on Wednesday night, March 4, during a traffic stop.
JPD Officer Andrew Duguay, the investigating officer, arrived on the scene shortly after Officer Gambill initiated a traffic stop on a blue 2013 Ford Mustang for failing to properly signal a turn in Jasonville. Dorman was the driver of the Mustang.
Officer Duguay deployed his K9 partner Blitz to sniff around the vehicle and Blitz alerted to the presence of controlled substances.
Officer Duguay reported a search of the vehicle yielded a couple of zip-lock baggies containing a white crystal substance, a glass smoking device with residue, a zip-lock baggie containing a green plant material and hand-rolled cigarettes containing a green plant material.
At one point, Dorman allegedly told the officers they could stop looking because they had found everything he had.
Officer Duguay reported the items field-tested positive as marijuana and methamphetamine.
Dorman was booked into the Greene County Jail around 9:42 p.m. Wednesday and was initially held without bond pending his appearance in court.
Dorman is facing preliminary charges of:
Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony,
Possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor, and
Possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
