Search for local fugitive led by LPD officers results in apprehension of convicted meth dealer

A week-long search for a local fugitive, led by officers from the Linton Police Department with assistance from multiple law enforcement agencies, resulted in yesterday’s apprehension of convicted meth dealer Eric S. Cullum, 36, Linton.

Eric S Cullum

Cullum was wanted on a warrant from Greene County that was issued during his criminal trial last week. Cullum was present in the courtroom on the first day of trial but he failed to appear for the proceedings on the second day. At the conclusion of his trial, Cullum was convicted of two counts of dealing methamphetamine, both as Level 2 felonies.

According to Linton Police Chief Paul Clark, immediately following the conclusion of the trial, law enforcement began attempting to locate Cullum to effect the arrest warrant.

“The Linton Police Department, led by Linton Police Officers Bobby Pierce and Alan Jackson, worked with several officers from local, state and federal agencies collaboratively, and succeeded in locating and taking Eric Cullum into custody on Tuesday, December 7, in Sullivan County,” said Clark.

Clark said agencies who assisted the LPD throughout this investigation and apprehension included: Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department, Greene County Sheriff’s Department, Bloomington Police Department, Sullivan Police Department, Greene County Drug Task Force, Jasonville Police Department, Indiana State Police, and U.S. Marshals.

“All of these agencies played important roles in this detail,” said Clark, “and we are very grateful for the assistance they provided.”

Cullum was booked into the Greene County Jail before 7 a.m. this morning, December 8, where he was being held without bond.
