Crystal Lynn Curnett, 39, Linton, was arrested by Officer Alan Jackson of the Linton Police Department on Monday night, June 21.

Linton Police officers were investigating a battery incident at a residence on 5th Street NW in Linton on Monday, June 21, when Officer Jackson was dispatched to assist on the scene.

When he arrived, as officers were talking to Crystal Curnett in the living room, Officer Jackson noticed a clear plastic zip bag containing white powder residue laying on the floor inside a bedroom adjacent to the living room.

After officers finished their interview with Curnett, Officer Jackson asked Curnett about the bag and asked if officers could retrieve it. She allegedly said the item was hers in that it’s in a bedroom belonging to her and her significant other. She said they couldn’t retrieve it and she denied consent to search the residence. So Officer Jackson requested a search warrant.

When the search was executed, officers picked up the bag, which field-tested positive for methamphetamine, and they reported locating a smoking device that field-tested positive for methamphetamine, other smoking devices, a metal grinder containing a plant material, a digital scale with white residue and other items of paraphernalia.

Curnett was taken into custody and booked into the Greene County Jail at 7:40 p.m. She was first held without bond pending court appearance.

Curnett appeared in Greene Superior Court yesterday, Thursday, June 24 for her initial hearing via two-way video between the jail and the courtroom.

She has been charged with:

  • Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony,

  • Possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor, and

  • Possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.

Her bond was set at $10,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed but as of late Friday, she had not yet posted bond and was still in jail.
