A Linton woman accused of hitting an older woman, who uses a wheelchair and a walker, is due in court in the morning to face charges of battery and resisting law enforcement.
Malinda Louise Bailey
Malinda Louise Bailey, 41 at the time of her arrest, now 42, Linton, was arrested by Officer Alan Jackson of the Linton Police Department on Friday, May 21.
Officer Jackson responded to a report of a battery at a residence on A Street in Linton around 3:45 p.m. on Friday, May 21. When he arrived, he talked to a woman who was sitting in a wheelchair on the front porch. She said her former daughter-in-law, Malinda Bailey, had beat her. Bailey was not at the residence at that time.
He also talked to a neighbor who said she heard the woman yelling and when she went over to check on her, the woman said Bailey had been hitting her that day and the night before.
An ambulance was called and the woman was transported to Greene County General Hospital for medical treatment. When Officer Jackson met with her at the hospital, he took photos of her injuries which included bruising on a cheek, a small cut with dried blood on the other cheek and under-the-skin blood marks on an index finger and a hand.
The woman explained when she was walking through the front room using a walker, Bailey stepped in front of her, grabbed her hands and hit her in the face. She said she was on the ground when Bailey left the residence.
When Bailey returned to the residence, she said they had argued about the temperature in the house but she denied hitting the woman that day and the day before.
Bailey was taken into custody but Officer Jackson reported that she resisted handcuffs and was pulling away as they were placed on her and as she was walked to a patrol vehicle.
Bailey was booked into the Greene County Jail at 6:58 p.m. Her bond was set at $1,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. She posted $100 and was released the next day.
Bailey is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow, Thursday, June 3, for an initial hearing on charges of:
Domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor, and
Resisting law enforcement – knowingly or intentionally forcibly resists, a Class A misdemeanor.
