Linton man arrested on alcohol-related charges

Unsafe movement at a stop sign and failure to use a turn signal was cause for a traffic stop which resulted in an alcohol-related arrest of a 23-year-old Linton man on July 4.

Linton Police Department Officer Alan Jackson arrested Craig Conner Gretlein after he allegedly made an unsafe movement at a stop sign, breaking the wheels loose and drifting around the corner while operating a black Polaris RZR on 1st Street Northeast from H Street Northeast. Gretlein also allegedly failed to use a turn signal. According to the probable cause affidavit, Jackson observed Gretlein had bloodshot eyes. He could also smell an odor of alcohol emitting from Gretlein's breath. When asked if he’d been drinking, Gretlein allegedly admitted he had been.

He’s been charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C Misdemeanor and operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent to at least .08 but less than .15.

Gretlein submitted to a portable breath test, which produced a result of .090, according to the probable cause affidavit.

He was then transported to the Linton Police Department for a standardized field sobriety test. Gretlein failed the series of tests. Also while at the police department, a certified breath test was conducted. According to the probable cause affidavit, Gretlein’s result was .106.

He was transported to Greene County Jail where his bond was set at  $4,000 surety with 10% cash allowed. He was released after posting $400.

He appeared in Greene Superior Court on July 10.
