Linton man arrested for trespassing
/Police arrested a man last weekend for trespassing. The man said he'd never been served any paperwork, but police had a recording of him verbally acknowledging he was not to be on the property.
Ren Daniel Barton, 35, Linton, was arrested by Officer Cayden Walker of the Linton Police Department last Saturday night, June 4.
Officer Walker was dispatched after LPD got a call from an employee at Glenburn that Ren Barton was on the property but he was not allowed to be there. The caller said Barton was in a blue Dodge Ram pickup and when he saw the employee he put it in reverse and left.
During the course of his investigation, Officer Walker learned Barton had been trespassed from the property but when Officer Walker talked to Barton, he allegedly said he was told he wasn't supposed to be on the property but nobody had served him any paperwork. He said he was going there to talk to his wife who was also employed there. He said she wanted him to come there to talk to her but when he pulled in, she got out of her car and started screaming that she didn't want him there.
Officer Wayman JR Blazier, who was assisting with the investigation, then produced an audio recording that was made in May when Officer Blazier was speaking to Barton. In the audio recording, Barton was verbally trespassed from the property and Barton verbally acknowledged that he was trespassed from the property.
Barton was placed under arrest, transported and booked into the Greene County Jail around 10:24 PM with bond was set at $1000 surety with 10% cash allowed. He posted $100 and was released from custody.
Barton is being charged with criminal trespassing, a Class A misdemeanor.
