Late night accident in parking lot leads to arrest
/When a blue car hit a white truck in a restaurant parking lot last Thursday, police responded. One driver was accused of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and wound up in jail.
Elijah Bartholomew Query, 24, Linton, was arrested by Officer Kyle Robison of the Linton Police Department and booked into the Greene County Jail around 2:45 a.m. on Thursday, September 26.
When Query appeared in Greene Superior Court yesterday, Thursday, October 3, he was charged with:
Intimidation, a Level 6 felony,
Resisting law enforcement – knowingly or intentionally forcibly resisting, a Class A misdemeanor,
Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor, and
Operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor.
A crash involving two vehicles in the parking lot of the Taco Bell restaurant in Linton resulted in a call to police and Officer Robison responded around 12:02 a.m.
The driver of a white truck was the caller who said the driver of a blue car, who was identified as Query, crashed into his truck.
When Officer Robison approached the blue car, Query was in the driver’s seat and the car was still running and in gear.
LPD Officer Nick Yingling also responded to assist and after the car was parked and shut off, he conducted standard field sobriety tests and reported Query failed the tests. Officer Robison said Query exhibited several signs of impairment.
Query was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated but was uncooperative and physically resisted. Query is also accused of wanting to fight the officers and of yelling intimidating profanities and threats.
Query refused to take a chemical test so a search warrant was requested and approved. He was transported to Greene County General Hospital for a blood draw – results pending.
He was then transported to jail but has since bonded out.
