Guest accused of roughing up his host

A Bloomington man who had been staying at a residence in Bloomfield is accused of roughing up his male host who has heart trouble. The victim suffered injuries along with chest pains after the altercation and was transported to the hospital.

Christopher R. Porter, 23, of Bloomington, will be getting a summons ordering him to appear in court on August 1 to face a charge of battery resulting in bodily injury, a Class A misdemeanor, as a result of an investigation by Deputy Davis Aerne of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputy Aerne was dispatched to the alleged victim’s residence on Forest Drive in Bloomfield around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, after the resident called the sheriff’s office and said Porter had hit him but had left.

When the man first called in, he refused an ambulance but before Deputy Aerne arrived on the scene, the man had changed his mind. He said he was having chest pains and requested an ambulance.

When Deputy Aerne arrived, personnel from the Greene County Ambulance Service were giving aid to the man prior to transporting him to the hospital in Bloomington.

The man explained Porter had been living at his residence off and on but the two had a disagreement and the man wanted Porter to leave.

According to Deputy Aerne, the man said Porter had an attitude and swung on him. He said he pushed Porter away but Porter then started to beat on him. They were wrestling around on the ground when another person arrived and saw the two men fighting in the driveway. The witness said he tried to break up the altercation. Porter then left in a black Ford Ranger.

Deputy Aerne and GCSD Deputy Zachary Goad then tried to locate Porter but they were not successful.

Deputy Aerne reported that besides the chest pains, the man was covered in mud and had abrasions on the top of his left hand, the right side of his face, the top of his head and the right side of his chest below his armpit.

After details of the incident were submitted to the prosecutor’s office, a criminal case was filed against Porter last Thursday, June 13.
