Driver killed in early Saturday morning crash on I-69

The 32-year-old driver of a box truck was killed early Saturday morning when he lost control of his truck and hit a guardrail then landed upside down after traveling over an embankment.

Mitchell Fitzgerald, 32, Owensboro, Kentucky, was driving a 2009 International box truck when the crash occurred around 7:53 AM, Saturday, November 12.

Greene County Sheriff's Deputy Devan Goad, the investigating officer, said the crash occurred at mile marker 99.5 northbound on I-69.

Deputy Goad reported Fitzgerald was northbound when he traveled into the left lane to pass another vehicle but lost control of his truck due to road conditions and hit the guardrail on the south side of the roadway. The truck then traveled over an embankment and came to rest on its top.

In addition to deputies from the Greene County Sheriff's Department, personnel responded to assist on the scene from the Greene County Ambulance Service, Center Fire Department, Monroe County Fire Department, Indiana State Police, and Ken’s Westside Towing
