Robert Carl Smith
Ashley Kaye Lewis
Robert Carl Smith, 55, and Ashley Kaye Lewis, 38, both from Terre Haute, were arrested by Officer Cayden Walker of the Linton Police Department on Saturday night, May 7.
Officer Walker responded along with Officer Wayman JR Blazier after a caller reported Smith and Lewis were fighting in the parking lot.
When they were interviewed, Lewis said Smith had pulled her into the room and held her down by her throat but no red marks were observed on her neck. Smith said Lewis had called him a couple of days earlier and said she was walking around Shelburn with no place to go so she had been staying with him for a couple of days and they had been drinking all day. Scratches were observed on his neck but he denied there was a physical altercation.
As it turned out there was an active DCS case involving Smith and Lewis and protective orders had been issued. There was an active protective order served to Smith ordering him to have no contact with Lewis and there was an active protective order issued to Lewis ordering her to have no contact with Smith.
Both Smith and Lewis were taken into custody and transported to the Greene County Sheriff's Department where Lewis was booked into the Greene County Jail at 8:18 PM. Smith was booked in at 8:46 PM. Both were being held without bond pending court appearance.
A criminal case was filed against both individuals earlier today in Greene Superior Court. When they appear at their initial hearings, they both will be facing a charge of invasion of privacy in violation of a protective order, a Class A misdemeanor.
