Monday afternoon head-on crash in eastern Greene County claims life of Bloomfield driver

A head-on crash on State Road 45 just south of I-69 on Monday afternoon claimed the life of a Bloomfield driver.

Morgan M. Apple, 22, Bloomfield, was the driver of a 2014 Kia Soul that was southbound on SR 45 when the crash occurred around 4:30 PM Monday. Apple’s injuries were fatal. Apple was transported to Greene County General Hospital by Greene County Ambulance Service E1.

Jeffrey A. Euler, 68, Bloomington, was the driver of a 2016 Chevrolet Colorado that was northbound on SR 45 when the two vehicles collided in a head-on crash. Euler was transported to IU Health Bloomington Hospital by Greene County Ambulance Service E2 with injuries. No additional information has been released on the extent of his injuries or his status.

Deputy Logan Milligan of the Greene County Sheriff's Department reported SR 45 was shut down between the hours of 4:30 PM and 9:00 PM during an investigation and while the Indiana State Police conducted an accident reconstruction. She said the crash is still under investigation.

In addition to the Greene County Sheriff's Department, personnel responded to the scene from the Indiana State Police, Center-Jackson Township Fire Department, Greene County Ambulance Service E1, E2, and EMS 2, the Greene County coroner, AirEvac 17 out of Paoli, and Ken’s West Side Towing.
