A Bloomfield woman was arrested last Tuesday and when she appeared in court this morning, she was charged with confinement and battery on another woman, plus meth possession.
Amanda Valerie Mann
Amanda Valerie Mann, 36, Bloomfield, was arrested by Deputy Jordan Allor of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department last Tuesday night, June 23.
Deputy Allor was dispatched at 6:17 p.m. that Tuesday to talk to a woman who wanted to report a battery. When he met with the woman in Bloomfield, she explained that her boyfriend was in jail and she sold their vehicle to get money to bond him out. But she said the boyfriend’s sister, Amanda Mann, refused to let her leave a residence, battered her and took the money, her cigarettes and her medication. They also talked to the woman’s female friend who was present when the altercation took place.
Deputy Allor and Deputy Michael Coy went to the residence to talk to Mann and a couple of men who were present during the altercation between Mann and the woman. Mann explained the woman sold her brother’s vehicle and was supposed to give Mann the money and Mann would then pay the bond. Mann said the woman did not give her the money and did not pay the bond. Mann allegedly admitted she tried to prevent the woman from leaving until she gave her the money.
After interviewing five people who were present, gathering details, Mann was taken into custody and transported to jail. During the booking process, Mann was found to be in possession of a couple of small plastic bags containing white crystal substances that field-tested positive as methamphetamine.
When Mann appeared in Greene Superior Court this morning, via videoconference between the jail and the courtroom, Mann was charged with:
Confinement, a Level 6 felony,
Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, and
Battery, a Class B misdemeanor.
During the hearing, a public defender was appointed to represent Mann and her bond was set at $10,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. She posted $1,000 and has now been released from jail.
