Austin James Hollifield, 28, Jasonville, was arrested in Linton early last Thursday, June 25, by Officer Adam King of the Linton Police Department.

Around 1:15 a.m., Officer King, the investigating officer, stopped a beige Cadillac Deville for driving left of center on State Road 59 just north of County Road 300 North. Hollifield was the driver, with one passenger.

LPD Officer Joe Riley and his K9 partner Kona also responded and when K9 Kona performed a free air sniff around the vehicle, Kona alerted to the presence of drugs.

Officer King reported when the vehicle was searched, officers found a small bag with a crystal residue that field-tested positive as methamphetamine, a digital scale with a crystal residue that field-tested positive as methamphetamine, other items of paraphernalia and a couple of small bags with brown and green plant-like substances.

Hollifield said he didn’t want to talk to officers without an attorney but the passenger said they had been smoking spice/K-2 but it didn’t belong to her.

Hollifield was booked into the Greene County Jail at 2:37 a.m. He was being held without bond pending court appearance.

Hollifield is scheduled to appear in the morning for an initial hearing when his bond will be set and he will be formally charged with possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, and possession of a controlled substance, a Class A misdemeanor.
