Robert Ray Secrest, 27, Bloomfield, was arrested by Officer Janzen Franklin of the Linton Police Department on Monday, February 22.

Secrest was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for speeding on A Street NW near County Road 1300 West in Linton.

Officer Janzen reported that he could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle when he was talking to the driver, who allegedly said Secrest had marijuana.

When officers talked to Secrest, he allegedly admitted he had marijuana in his right front pocket and he handed over a clear ziplock bag containing a plant material that field-tested positive as marijuana.

When one officer was talking to the driver, she allegedly said they were hurting for money and that Secrest intended to sell the marijuana.

Secrest was taken into custody and booked into the Greene County Jail where his bond was set at $500 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He posted $50 and was released later the same day.

Secrest is scheduled to appear in court on March 1 for an initial hearing.

He is facing a preliminary charge of possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor.
