Sammy Lee Davis

Sammy Lee Davis, 70, of Jasonville, passed away suddenly on Monday, March 8, 2021.  He was born in Union City on August 15, 1950, the son of Omer & Mary (Nelson) Davis.

He attended Linton-Stockton High School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.  He later served in Indiana Army National Guard.

He was an over the road truck driver, worked as Plant Manager for Eldorado Blasting Company, Bland Trucking, terminal manager at Elmer Buchta retiring December 2018, and currently worked for Joe Lannan Excavating.  

He enjoyed Harley motorcycles during his younger years, golfing, NASCAR racing, and an all around sports fan.  Throughout the years he also enjoyed being involved in Shakamak Youth Baseball, horseback riding and camping.  He loved working on his 1953 Ferguson Tractor.  He never wanted pets, but every pet brought home he loved.

Sammy was a member of Lawton Street Christian Church of Jasonville, Linton Masonic Lodge #560, Scottish Rite and Zorah Shrine of Terre Haute, and the Greene County Shrine Club.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jan (Bevill) Davis, children, Samantha (Kirk) Stobart of Independence, MO, Greg (Winnie) Davis of Dallas, TX, Matt (Jessica) Davis of Jefferson, NJ and Leigh Davis of Carmel, three brothers, Leon (Berniece) Davis of Ft. Wayne, Bill (Mary) Davis of Ft. Wayne, and David (Robin) Davis of Yorktown, grandchildren, Dylan Davis, Shelby & Kelcey Stobart, and Averie Davis, and a great-grandson, Brendan Davis.  

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Glenna J. Myers on December 12, 2018.

Masonic Rites and Funeral Service will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 13, 2021, with Mark Messmer officiating.  Burial will follow with military honors provided by the American Legion Post #22 of Linton.  

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 12 noon until the time of service.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children, through the funeral home.
