John P. "Spivens" Curran

John P. "Spivens" Curran, 86, of Linton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Greene County General Hospital in Linton, surrounded by the quiet comfort of a life well lived.

Born on December 7, 1939, in Bainbridge, Indiana, John was the son of Raywood and Lena (Lith) Curran. He grew up with strong roots in his community, graduating from Roachdale High School in 1957 before serving his country in the United States Army Reserve.

John was a man of deep faith and steady devotion, a longtime member of Lincoln Christian Church. He enjoyed his involvement in the Roachdale Masonic Lodge, Roachdale Eastern Star, Scottish Rite, and Shrine. His working years were spent as a proud member of the Operators Union Local #841, where he built not just a career, but lasting friendships.

Those who knew John will remember him best not for titles or memberships, but for the warmth he carried everywhere he went. He truly never met a stranger. Whether he was sharing a story, lending a hand, or heading out on a simple trip with friends - John found joy in the everyday moments. His love for woodworking and tending to plants reflected his patient, caring nature, and his lively spirit brought laughter and comfort to those around him. He also enjoyed many trips pulling his 5th wheel camper to many places, seeing the beauty of the United States.

Above all, John was a family man. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter and son-in-law, Lena and Norman Fox; his grandchildren, John Stormes (Misty), Breanna Cooksey (Scott), Samantha Marvin (Scottie), and Trenton Fox (Hanna Rogers); and his great-grandchildren, Peyton Myers, Harper Myers, Kendall Stormes, Cohen Cooksey, and Dahlia Marvin. He is also survived by his brother, Charles "Bob" Curran (Nancy) and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beth Ann Curran, whose memory he carried with him always; his parents; and his brother, Everett Curran.

John's life was one defined by kindness, laughter, and connection. His positive spirit and genuine love for people leave a lasting imprint on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Visitation will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton, on Monday, June 22, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm, with a service to celebrate his life beginning at 6:00 pm. A graveside service will follow on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 11:00 am at Roachdale Cemetery.

In honor of John's faith and community spirit, memorial contributions may be made to Lincoln Christian Church through the funeral home.
