Woman who called police ended up in jail
/A woman who called police from her car in Bloomfield last week ended up in jail after she offered to let a deputy search her car and he reported finding meth paraphernalia with residue.
Elizabeth Ann Fields, 39, Bloomfield, was arrested by Deputy William C. Walker of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department on Wednesday, August 11.
She was initially held without bond but when she appeared in Greene Superior Court via two-way video between the jail and the courtroom last Friday, her bond was set at $4,500 surety with ten percent cash allowed. She has since posted $$450 and been released from the Greene County Jail.
Fields has been charged with:
Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, and
Possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
Deputy Walker responded after Fields called 911 at 4:12 p.m. on August 11 and said her husband had hit her vehicle and ripped the mirror off. Deputy Walker located her in a gray Ford Focus parked behind Huck’s gas station in Bloomfield. She said the two had been arguing for two days and when she met him in the parking lot, they started arguing again and her husband ripped her driver’s side mirror off. Deputy Walker noted she acted nervous, smoking several cigarettes and not sitting still in her vehicle.
When her husband pulled up to the scene, he admitted he was upset and hit the mirror which caused it to fall off. He also said he thought Fields had methamphetamine with her but Fields denied having any illegal substances and offered to let the deputy search her vehicle if he wanted.
Deputy Walker reported that during a search of her vehicle, he located a black digital scale with a white crystal substance that field-tested positive as methamphetamine. Fields said she thought her husband had placed it there but he denied the scale was his and he offered to do a DNA sample.
GCSD Sgt. Jordan Allor, who was assisting on the scene, reported he also found a smoking device and a red plastic straw in the vehicle.
Fields denied the items belonged to her and started crying, asking how can this happen when she was the one who had called for help.
Fields was taken into custody and transported to the Greene County Jail where she was booked in at 6:13 p.m.
