Woman claims she didn't know a wanted man was hiding inside a wall in her home

When law enforcement arrived in the Tulip area of rural Bloomfield to arrest a man wanted in Owen County, a woman said he wasn’t there. But when GCSD deputies and a BPD officer searched the residence, they found him hiding inside a wall. The woman said she didn’t know he was there.

Allisann Danielle Jayne, 25, and Michael Lee Boyd, 36, both of rural Bloomfield, were arrested early Saturday, October 30, following an incident that started late Friday, October 29. Jayne was arrested by Deputy Sgt. Jordan Allor of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, Boyd by Deputy Kelly Hutchens.

A warrant was out for Boyd’s arrest on a petition to revoke in a case where he’d been convicted of possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, in Owen County.

Around 10 p.m. that Friday, the Owen County Sheriff’s Department asked if GCSD deputies would go to a residence on North Wilkie School Road, located in the Tulip area of rural Bloomfield, to look for Boyd. Both Boyd and Jayne resided at the residence.

By 10:50 p.m., Sgt. Allor arrived at the residence along with Deputy Hutchens and Deputies Logan Milligan and Michael Coy, and Det. David Elmore. When they got there, a green 1996 Buick Park Avenue was parked in the driveway and Sgt. Allor knew Boyd usually drives that vehicle. Shortly after their arrival, Deputy Marshal Wayman JR Blazier of the Bloomfield Police Department also arrived to assist.

There were lights on in the residence and when Deputy Hutchens started knocking on the door, officers could hear movement inside in the kitchen area. After several minutes of knocking, they heard Jayne’s voice and told her several times to come to the front door. She allegedly replied that she did not have pants on. She was told that she’d had more than enough time to put clothes on and get to the door. After several minutes of Jayne standing at a window, she went to the door, exited the residence and shut the locked door behind her. She still did not have pants on, but she was detained and Officer Blazier kicked the front door in and made entry.

When Jayne was asked about Boyd’s location, she allegedly said she did not know where he is, had broken up with him and had not seen him for two weeks. She also said he does not stay at the residence.

In the meantime, officers had entered the residence to search for Boyd and Officer Blazier found him in a hiding spot in the wall in the hallway. Sgt. Allor said the hiding spot was a void area in the wall that was covered with a piece of wood paneling that was secured to the wall with a piece of clothing. He said the paneling had to be secured from the outside.

Boyd was taken into custody and transported to jail. Jayne was then allowed to go back into the residence to put some pants on.

Jayne allegedly said she did not know Boyd was there, didn’t know he was hiding in the wall, and the deputies had no proof that she knew Boyd was there.

During the search for Boyd, deputies reported seeing a smoking device on a bathmat next to a bathtub that still held bathwater. When asked about the smoking device, Jayne allegedly first said it was old, then said she had been suspecting that people had been coming into her house when she’s not home. She said she’d seen it before but it wasn’t hers.

When a search warrant issued for the residence was executed around 1:30 a.m., Det. Elmore found a copy of Boyd’s arrest warrant on the kitchen counter which Sgt. Allor said indicated anyone living inside the residence would know Boyd had a warrant out. Deputies also found another smoking device under dirty clothes in a clothes basket. It contained a white powder residue that field-tested positive for methamphetamine. Other items of paraphernalia were found, including another smoking device that also field-tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine.

Boyd was booked into the Greene County Jail at 12:03 a.m. He was held without bond then transferred to Owen County where he’s still in custody. He’s appeared in court for a hearing and has another hearing scheduled for November 15 to review bond. Until then, he’s being held without bond.

Jayne was booked into the Greene County Jail at 12:33 a.m. without bond pending court appearance. When she appeared in Greene Superior Court for her initial hearing last week, her bond was set at $20,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. As of earlier today, she had not yet posted bond and was still in custody.

Jayne has been charged with:

  • Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony,

  • Assisting a criminal, a Level 6 felony

  • False informing, a Class B misdemeanor,

  • Possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor, and

  • Possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
