Linton man accused of drug dealing racks up another arrest
/A Linton man arrested in Sullivan County over the weekend is accused of leaving the scene of an accident, driving under the influence of a controlled substance and meth possession. He was already in trouble in Greene County and out on bond in two criminal cases for alleged drug dealing. Now his bond may be revoked and a warrant’s been issued for his arrest in Greene County, but he’s still in the Sullivan County Jail for now.
Ramsey Stone Ferree, 26, Linton, was arrested last Sunday, November 7, in Sullivan County by deputies from the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department then booked into the Sullivan County Jail where he was initially held without bond.
Ferree was booked in on preliminary charges that included leaving the scene of an accident, driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine, resisting law enforcement and disorderly conduct. However, charges of resisting and disorderly conduct were not included when a criminal case was filed against Ferree in Sullivan Superior Court earlier today.
The incident occurred before 2 p.m. Sunday. By that time, the SCSD had requested a search warrant to obtain a blood draw from Ferree, it had been granted by Judge Robert Hunley and the blood sample was taken at 2:30 p.m. – results pending.
Ferree has remained in custody in the Sullivan County Jail since his arrest and the Sullivan County Prosecutor filed charges against him today, including:
Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony,
Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor,
Operating a vehicle with a controlled substance in the body, a Class C misdemeanor,
Operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction within seven years, a Level 6 felony, and
Leaving the scene of an accident, a Class B misdemeanor.
The date of his initial hearing is not known but Judge Hunt has set Ferree’s bond at $10,000 cash.
Even if he posts the $10,000 cash, he would not be released since he’s facing new trouble in one of his cases in Greene County.
Ferree was arrested in Greene County in July, then again in September, so he has two criminal cases pending here. In both cases, Ferree is accused of dealing quantities of methamphetamine and also heroin and he was currently out on bond in both cases.
Yesterday, following Ferree’s arrest in Sullivan County, the Greene County Prosecutor filed a petition to revoke Ferree’s bond in one of his Greene County cases. The court found reason to believe Ferree had violated a condition of bond release and a warrant was issued for Ferree’s arrest. So even if he posts bond and is released from custody in Sullivan County, he will be transferred and held without bond in Greene County.
