On Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at approximately 9:30 am, Sgt. Ian Portteus was at the Bloomington State Police Post doing paperwork when he overheard radio traffic from the Owen County Sheriff's Department regarding a possible theft of three vehicles from T&T Repairables near Whitehall, in southeastern Owen County. Law enforcement response originated after a concerned citizen called the Sheriff’s Department Communication Center and reported suspicious activity leaving the area of the business.

Troopers Investigating Homicide in Owen County

Detectives with the Indiana State Police Bloomington District are conducting a death investigation related to a Wednesday evening shooting that occurred at a residence located in the area of US 231 and North Cataract Road in Owen County. Two suspects left in an unknown direction in a gray or blue passenger vehicle. The make and model of the vehicle are unknown. It is not believed that the public is in danger and investigators are looking for any information that the public may have. The public may call the Indiana State Police Bloomington Post with any leads at 812-332-4411 and ask for Detective Ian Matthews.

When law enforcement arrived in the Tulip area of rural Bloomfield to arrest a man wanted in Owen County, a woman said he wasn’t there. But when GCSD deputies and a BPD officer searched the residence, they found him hiding inside a wall. The woman said she didn’t know he was there.

Earlier today, Wednesday, September 29, 2021, deputies with the Owen County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the area of Upper Cliff Road in Owen County in reference to a male subject who had been shot in the leg. After an initial investigation, it is believed 31-year-old Bobby Forey-Standifer shot 25-year-old Zebediah Featherston from a moving vehicle in the area of State Road 42 and State Road 243. Featherston was transported to IU Health-Bloomington Hospital. His condition is unknown at this time. The suspect, Forey-Standifer (pictured), remains at large. Anybody with information regarding his whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Owen County 911 Emergency Dispatch Center at 812-829-4874. This investigation is ongoing.

UPDATE: This Silver Alert was canceled by ISP at 8 am………A Statewide Silver Alert has been declared. The Owen County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the disappearance of Lowell Robinson, an 85 year old white male, 6 feet tall, 200 pounds, gray hair with blue eyes, last seen wearing a brown sports coat, white shirt, gray slacks, and tennis shoes and driving a blue and silver 2001 GMC Sierra with an Indiana license plate of ARAMIS. Lowell is missing from Freedom, Indiana which is 60 miles Southwest of Indianapolis, and was last seen on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at 5:45 pm. Suspected meth dealer leads ISP trooper in pursuit; Deputies from three counties assist

When Indiana State Police troopers investigating a man suspected of dealing methamphetamine located him near the Greene County Chapel yesterday afternoon, the man fled, starting a pursuit through Greene County then Owen County to the Monroe County line. When the suspect was apprehended in a field off McVille Road, he allegedly had approximately 130 grams of meth in his possession, and a lot of cash.
