Warrant issued for parent who owes more than $40,000 in child support

In the wake of the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office Criminal Nonsupport Campaign, which allows criminal action to be taken against those who have accrued large arrears, a warrant has been issued for a Sullivan man for nonpayment of more than $40,000 in child support.

On April 14, a warrant for the arrest of Isaac Curtis Hale was issued in Greene Superior Court. According to a probable cause affidavit prepared by Greene County Prosecutor’s Office Investigator Julie Criger, Hale has accumulated $43,056.84 in unpaid child support from 2008 to present.

According to the probable cause, the child’s mother alleged she had never received any financial support from Hale; however, his parents provided diapers when she asked. She alleged Hale had no contact with the child from age three to 12. Since then, she said he contacts the child a few times a year but has never assisted financially.

According to Criger’s probable cause, paternity was established in September 2008. At that time, a signed child support order was put in place. Hale was to pay $47 per week.

Between September 2010 and January 2019, Hale requested his child support be modified.

In July 2022, the child’s mother filed a letter with the court for contempt for non-payment of child support. In November 2022, he made a child support payment of $200.

From Sept, 23, 2008, through June 30, 2014, according to the probable cause, Hale did knowingly fail to provide support for his child. As of June 30, 2014, he owed $19,995.39. From July 1, 2014, through April 5, 2023, Hale failed to provide support for his child in an additional amount of $23,061.45. As of April 5, 2023, Hale owes $43,056.84 in child support. A payment has not been made since Nov. 17, 2022.

A warrant for his arrest was issued on April 14. Upon arrest, Hale will be charged with nonsupport of a dependent child, a Level 6 Felony.
