Switz City woman arrested on methamphetamine charge following traffic stop
/A Switz City woman was arrested April 1 after police say methamphetamine was found in her vehicle during a traffic stop.
According to court documents, Charity Sells, 47, faces a preliminary charge of possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony. She is being held without bond in the Greene County Jail.
Worthington Police Department Town Marshal Jacob Gambill reported he observed a silver Ford Mustang traveling below the posted speed limit on State Road 67 before the driver began making what appeared to be evasive maneuvers.
Gambill said the vehicle made multiple turns through Worthington and changed direction when the he attempted to follow.
A traffic stop was initiated near Park Street and Lessie Street, where Gambill identified the driver as Sells.
According to the affidavit, Sells was unable to provide a valid driver’s license or proof of insurance but presented paperwork showing conditional driving privileges. Gambill determined her travel did not appear to fall within the allowed purposes outlined in those privileges.
Due to the lack of financial responsibility, the vehicle was towed and an inventory search was conducted.
During the search, Gambill reported locating a zippered bag containing a small plastic bag with a crystal-like substance. The substance later field-tested positive for methamphetamine, according to the probable cause.
According to the affidavit, Sells told officers the substance was hers and acknowledged it was methamphetamine.
Sells was taken into custody and transported to the Greene County Jail. She was held without bond.
