Bloomfield woman charged with dealing meth after large drug seizure
/A Bloomfield woman is facing multiple felony drug charges after police say more than two pounds of methamphetamine were recovered during a traffic stop and subsequent search of her home.
According to court documents, Kristen Nichole May, 45, was arrested March 26 on preliminary charges of dealing in methamphetamine, a Level 2 felony, and possession of methamphetamine, a Level 3 felony.
She was initially held without bond in the Greene County Jail. At her initial hearing on April 1, a bond at $110,000 surety with 10% cash allowed was set.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the investigation began March 26 when an Indiana State Police trooper conducted a traffic stop on a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado near the intersection of State Road 45 and State Road 445 in Greene County.
A K-9 unit conducted a free-air sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of narcotics. During a search of the vehicle, officers located a plastic bag containing a white crystal-like substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine. The substance recovered from the vehicle weighed approximately 457 grams, including packaging.
Authorities later obtained and executed a search warrant at May’s residence in Bloomfield. During the search, officers reported locating multiple plastic bags containing a similar crystal-like substance, along with digital scales. The substances recovered from the residence weighed approximately 701 grams, including packaging.
In total, investigators reported recovering approximately 2.5 pounds of suspected methamphetamine from the vehicle and residence combined.
According to the affidavit, investigators stated the quantity of methamphetamine recovered is consistent with distribution-level activity.
