A Lewis woman was arrested after police say methamphetamine and marijuana were found during a traffic stop in March.

According to court documents, Michelle Faught, 48, faces preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor, and driving while suspended with a prior conviction, a Class A misdemeanor .

Officer Skylar Scott of the Jasonville Police Department reported he and another officer observed Faught driving a silver Ford Escape on State Road 59 on March 26 and recognized her from prior law enforcement interactions. A check of her driving status showed her license was suspended with a prior conviction.

During the traffic stop, Scott reported detecting the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Faught was asked to exit the vehicle and consented to a search.

According to the affidavit, Scott located a cut straw containing a white powdery substance in Faught’s pocket, which later field-tested positive for methamphetamine .

Faught was taken into custody without incident. Authorities also reported locating marijuana concealed on her person during the booking process at the Greene County Jail.

Faught was arrested March 26 and initially held without bond. She appeared for an initial hearing on April 1, where a $10,000 surety bond with 10% cash was set.
