Suspected meth dealer booked into Greene County Jail
/After being sentenced to six years in a meth case in Sullivan County yesterday morning, a defendant was transported to Greene County and booked into the Greene County Jail. When he appeared in court today, he was charged with another felony for allegedly dealing meth in Greene County.
Bradly Alan Cooksey, aka Bradley Alan Cooksey, 46, Dugger, was one of several individuals arrested in July of 2018 by a team of investigators and officers from several law enforcement agencies that had been working on a drug investigation for several months. The team included personnel from the Greene County Drug Task Force with assistance from the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office.
On Friday evening, July 20, 2018, four men were arrested in Sullivan County, including Cooksey, when personnel from the Indiana State Police Drug Enforcement Section, the Indiana State Police SWAT team, area ISP troopers and the Greene County Drug Task Force served two search warrants, one at a residence in Sullivan and the other at a residence in Dugger.
During the execution of the warrants, officers reported seizing over $10,000 cash and a money counter, scales, small amounts of liquid morphine and methamphetamine, assorted paraphernalia, multiple weapons and a ballistic vest.
Cooksey was booked into the Sullivan County Jail and subsequently charged with dealing in methamphetamine in an amount of 10 or more grams, a Level 2 felony, and conspiracy to commit dealing in methamphetamine, a Level 5 felony, and he had other cases pending against him.
As a result of a negotiated plea agreement, the first count was dismissed and he changed his plea to guilty of conspiracy to deal methamphetamine, a Level 5 felony.
On Wednesday morning, November 6, Cooksey was sentenced to six years. He was given credit for 436 days already served.
Following the sentencing hearing at 9 a.m., Cooksey was transferred to Greene County where he was booked in to the Greene County Jail around 4:16 p.m.
Today in Greene Superior Court, Cooksey was charged with dealing in methamphetamine, with an enhancing circumstance, a Level 4 felony.
After Cooksey was arrested and facing charges in Sullivan County, a case was filed against him in Greene County in August of 2018. A warrant was issued for his arrest and it’s been outstanding until the conclusion of his case in Sullivan County.
The charge in Greene County stems from an alleged transaction that occurred in Greene County in May of 2018.
According to the Greene County Drug Task Force, Cooksey sold a quantity of methamphetamine to an individual in Greene County – location not released. The evidence against Cooksey includes audio and video surveillance, cash and methamphetamine from the transaction as well as witnesses.
According to one of the investigators, Cooksey was also convicted of dealing methamphetamine as a Class B felony in Greene County in December of 2008.
Greene County Prosecutor Jarrod Holtsclaw has notified the court that the prosecution will seek a sentence enhancement for a habitual felony offender.
