Lee Allen Jerrell, 43, Linton, was arrested by Officer Alan Jackson of the Linton Police Department last Thursday, September 2.

Officer Jackson was dispatched to a domestic disturbance around 10 p.m. last Wednesday, September 1, at a residence on 5th Street SE in Linton along with LPD Officer Bobby Pierce and Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy William C. Walker.

Lee Jerrell had left out the back door before the officers arrived, but they talked to a woman who described an argument and said Jerrell was hitting her and throwing her around. Officer Jackson reported the woman had bruises on a leg and skin torn off the top of a hand and that officers seized evidence that had allegedly been dropped by Jerrell during the altercation, including a Ziploc bag containing a crystal substance that field-tested positive as methamphetamine.

Officers searched the area in an attempt to locate Jerrell without success. When the woman called to say he was back at the residence, they responded but he left again before they arrived. Officer Jackson reported the officers searched through the night in an attempt to locate.

The next morning, which was last Thursday, September 2, LPD Officers Zachary Goad and Orry Phipps came on duty and were advised of the situation but later in the morning, Jerrell showed up at the police department and was taken into custody.

Jerrell was booked into the Greene County Jail around 2 p.m. last Thursday.

During an interview at the jail, Jerrell denied the accusations but allegedly said the woman may have gotten an injury when he was trying to leave the residence and pushed her out of the way. He also denied the evidence seized belonged to him.

Jerrell was held without bond pending court appearance.

This morning, Thursday, September 9, when he appeared in Greene Superior Court for an initial hearing via video connection between the jail and the courtroom, Jerrell was formally charged with:

  • Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony,

  • Domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor, and

  • Possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.

His bond was set at $5,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed and he has since posted $500 and been released from jail.
