Branden Douglas Benson, 31, of Bloomfield, Indiana, went to Heaven on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at his home. He was born on August 25, 1992 in Centerville, Iowa to Lawrence Benson, Jr. and Paula (Smith) Smothers. Branden married Chelsey (Plummer) Benson on September 25, 2021.

Branden was a miner at Peabody Coal Company, Bear Run Mine. He loved fishing, golfing, gaming, hunting, grilling out and spending time with his dogs, Oakley and Zack.

Family left to cherish the memory of Branden include: his wife, Chelsey Benson; parents, Paula and Kris Smothers of Iowa and Eric (Sherri) White; grandparents, Ira (Polly) Smith of Linton and Jean Smothers of Cincinnati, Iowa; brothers, Bradly Benson, Anthony Lee, both of Iowa and Chris Lee of Colorado; sisters, Kayla (Jeremy) Moorman and Katelyn (Jacob) Snow, both of Iowa; nieces and nephews, Lucas Benson, Blakeleigh Snow, Clary Moorman, Libby Moorman and Kayson Plummer; mother and father-in-law, Mark and Beth Plummer of Bloomfield; sister-in-laws, Mackenzie Plummer and Arianna Plummer and brother-in-law, Jared Plummer, all of Bloomfield. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Branden was preceded in death by grandparents, Lawrence Benson, Sr., Gary Smothers, Harold and Linda White.

Funeral services for Branden will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Anderson-Poindexter Chapel, 89 C St. NW, Linton, Indiana. Branden will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Linton.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, April 16th and from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family through the funeral home. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
